Kentuck's Clay Studio is the perfect place to explore the art of clay, offering workshops and classes for all ages and skill levels. Located at Kentuck Art Center's main campus in Northport, you'll find us through the green door in the Courtyard of Wonders. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, our upcoming classes have something for everyone—multi-day sessions like Wheel Throwing 101 or After School Clay Play, and single-day options like Try It: Wheel Throwing and Love Mugs. Join us for Art Night Drop-In hours on the first Thursday of every month from 5–8 PM, where you can create with 2 lbs. of clay for just $20. Looking to work on your own projects? Our Open Studio hours provide a self-guided opportunity to use our materials and equipment. Create, learn, and make something unforgettable with Kentuck's Clay Studio!

Amy Smoot

Clay Studio Manager

Amy Smoot is from Carrollton, GA and currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her BFA in ceramics from the University of West Georgia in 2015. While there, she was studio technician and research assistant in the ceramics area. In 2019 she received her MFA from The University of Alabama where she first began teaching ceramics as a graduate assistant. Her practice consists of all types of ceramics techniques including mold-making, slip-casting, hand building, and wheel thrown pottery.  Amy began teaching for Kentuck in 2021 and joined Kentuck's staff as Clay Studio Manager in 2023.
