open studio: clay
instructed by amy smoot
Open studio is the opportunity for people to utilize our materials and equipment to work on personal projects in our clay studio. Think of it like an independent study in clay! Students will pay a fee of $40 that includes use of the studio for 3 hours, 3 pounds of clay, paint-on glazes and kiln firings. The Clay Studio Manager will be present to answer questions and can help with simple projects.
Additional clay can be purchased for $10 per pound before or during open studio hours. Don't know where to start? While completing your ticket you can select a hand-building project idea that you are interested in. Hand-building equipment available includes a slab roller, clay extruder, molds, a variety of texture tools and stamps, and more. If you have a specific project in mind come with sketches or printouts!
If you are looking to use our pottery wheels, you MUST have prior experience using that equipment. Please note that we have a limit of 6 wheels. When purchasing your ticket, please be sure to answer the appropriate question when checking out so a space can be prepared for you. Wheels are first come first served.
Non-wheel/hand building spaces are limited to 12.
