art heals

Kentuck Art Center and the Tuscaloosa Mental Health Alliance are partnering to platform how the arts can benefit your mental health.

good for you, regardless

Artmaking is one of the most effective tools for supporting your mental and physical health, with benefits that build the longer you practice. Whether you're a creative who has been dabbling with different methods for decades or someone who is picking up the brush for the first time, the research is clear: making art changes you.

Kentuck Art Center hosts art workshops for all levels and all ages so participants can learn and grow in a supportive, welcoming environment.

the science says so

Engaging with art is known to:

  • Reduce stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Build a stronger sense of purpose

  • Ease loneliness and deepen community connection

  • Sharpen focus and attention

  • Lower cortisol levels

  • Support neuroplasticity at all stages of life
