Ever wondered how to see? No really – see. In this portrait drawing class designed for beginners ages 18+, you will learn how an artist sees their subject. Combining your sharp observation skills, pencils and charcoal, and a grid transfer technique, students will learn to draw realistic portraits from a 4x6 reference photo.

​Times: 6-8pm
Location: Kentuck's Studio 2
Tuition: $50. All supplies are included, but please bring your own printed 4x6” reference photo.

This class is limited to participants 18 & up.
There is a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 10. If the minimum is not met, participants will be refunded. This class will be located in Studio 2 which is located behind Rusty the big red dog on our campus. Look for the blue double doors in the Courtyard of Wonders!

If the class does not meet the minimum by the registration deadline and the workshop is cancelled, all participants will be refunded their registration fees.
meet the instructor: molly nelko

Molly Nelko is Kentuck Art Center’s Arts Education Manager. A native of Mobile, Alabama, she graduated magna cum laude from Spring Hill College with a BA in Fine Art, with a focus on oil painting and printmaking. Molly is an experienced teaching artist who has led classes at Kentuck for over four years, contributing significantly to the growth of Kentuck’s year-round programming.
​
Her work has been exhibited from Portland, Oregon to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and she works in a variety of media including encaustic, tessellations, and ink wash. Molly lives in Tuscaloosa with her husband, three children, and their cat, Quill.
